Our Nocturne Vodka is a unique and bold spirit that blends the earthy, umami-rich flavours of black garlic with the smooth, clean profile of our high quality vodka. The black garlic brings a deep, savoury sweetness, a subtle hint of molasses, and a slight smokiness that enhances the vodka's natural character.
The Black Garlic we use to infuse our vodka is lovingly grown and produced by Braeloch Farms, right here on Pender Island.
Tasting Notes: both sweet and savoury, earthy and umami.
Black Garlic Caesar:
- 2 oz of Nocturne Vodka
- 4 oz of Clamato Juice
- 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
- 2 dashes of Worcestershire Sauce
- 2 dashes of hot sauce (optional, add more or less for your spicy preference!)
- 1 tsp of horseradish
- 1 grind of black pepper
- Braeloch Farms Garlic Scape Salt - for the rim
- Garnishes: celery stalk, olives, pickled beans, or a small clove of Black Garlic
The black garlic will subtly enrich this classic take on a caesar, giving it a deeper umami quality which compliments the bright acidity from the Clamato and lime. It's a drink that feels both comforting and complex.
Black Garlic Martini:
- 2 oz of Nocturne Vodka
- 1/2 oz of dry vermouth
- 1/4 oz of simple syrup (optional, depending on your sweetness preference!)
- Ice
- Lemon twist, or black olives - for garnish
Chill your martini glass of choice. In a separate mixing glass, combine the first three ingredients. Add the ice and stir well to chill and dilute. Strain the mixture into your chilled martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist, or a couple black olives for a savoury touch that compliments the unique flavour of the black garlic.
